What is Rogers Island Visitors Center and Rogers Island Heritage Development Alliance?

The Visitors Center is  managed by the non-profit Rogers Island Heritage Development Alliance (RIHDA).  The permanent exhibits within the Center tell of the area’s earliest known Native American inhabitants, the British fort built here in the 18th century, the renowned Rogers' Rangers who operated from their base camp on this island from mid 1756 until 1759 during the French & Indian War and Fort Edward’s role in the Revolutionary War.

Viewing windows into our working archaeological laboratory give visitors an opportunity to see actual artifacts from recent digs in the Fort Edward area as they are being cleaned and processed by volunteer members of the Adirondack Chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association.
