Archaeology Field School

The Field School will be excavating several 18th century military sites around Fort Edward and will once again be headquartered at the Rogers Island Visitors Center. Artifacts from the current digs can be seen as they are processed in the Center's laboratory as well as artifacts discovered from prior excavations in Fort Edward. Archaeologists conduct weekday noon lectures in the Center's gallery throughout the dig. HOURS: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. for visitors
              9 a.m.- 5p.m. for diggers


LOCATION: Rogers Island Visitors Center 11 Rogers Island Drive Fort Edward, NY 12828 

 


 

SPONSORS: Adirondack Community College,  Rogers Island Visitors Center

DIRECTIONS:  From I-87: Exit 17N onto Rt.9 North. Right turn at first traffic light onto Rt. 197 East. Right turn on Rogers Island after crossing first bridge. From Rt.4: In village of Fort Edward take Rt. 197 West. Left turn on Rogers Island just before the second bridge.

ACCESSIBILITY:  Wheelchair accessible, wheelchair accessible restrooms.  Strollers are allowed.  

FACILITIES:  rest rooms, picnic tables, gift shop

June – August: Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 1pm-4pm
